... [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive and we'll see how well this works.

It was something [livejournal.com profile] shapinglight asked that made me realise I only ever post in [livejournal.com profile] photo_scavenger these days. Then I saw [livejournal.com profile] kazzy_cee's mention of [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive, so I am going to give it a go.

The Friday Five for January 20, 2017

1. How do you like your coffee?
I drink my coffee white (or, more accurately, dark brown) with milk (never with cream) and one sugar. Except at work, where without a fridge milk doesn't keep, so I've become accustomed to drinking it black with no sugar.

2. How do you like your tea?
Strongish, with a small amount of milk, about as dark as my coffee and with no sugar.

3. What's your favourite late night beverage?
Even after all these years of reading fanfic written by Americans, I still do a double take when presented with the word 'beverage' *g* It makes me think of hot bovril for some reason. But to answer the question about favourite (evening and late night) drinks...
Week nights - various fruit juices diluted with soda water, so I can drink a number of them from a tall glass. (It's all about the volume.)
Weekends - G&T.

4. If you could only drink one thing for the next week, what would it be?
That's a difficult one because I have a serious caffeine addiction and would hate not having my early morning coffee. But you can't drink coffee all day, so I guess it would have be the week-night answer to question 3 (and feel sorry for anybody who comes into contact with me during my withdrawal).

5. If you were on vacation (again, a word I don't use, so - holiday), what would be the first thing you'd drink to celebrate?
And again a reference to question 3 (I am a creature of habit) - gin and tonic.

Nothing wrong with a good gin and tonic. :D

And I forgot to say, welcome! I hope you have a good time with the Friday Five.

Nothing wrong at all *g*
Thank you. I needed a nudge, to find a way to post on my own LJ, and your comm has provided it.
I really like your icon! Very appropriate.

That is fabulous. I wish I could take credit for the comm, but I'm just one of many moderators.

I do love, love, love my coffee. :D

Ah, we poor addicts. *g*

Aw, but rather I pity the people who can't embrace the culture and history of coffee and all it entails. That's not the sell the tea drinkers short, of course, but there is something about the java...

Oh, there is. Tea is a lovely day-time drink, but in the morning... only coffee will do *g*

Heh, for me, it's all kneel at the altar of the all important coffee urn. Are you familiar with old musicals? In How to Succeed in Business there is a song dedicated to coffee. It is totally on the mark.

I am not familiar with old musicals and I had not heard of that song, but Youtube is a wonderful thing. That is funny.

I'm glad you found it. It really is a great look back at the business world of the sixties.

Yes, one of the Youtube extracts had a coffee urn on a trolley. Very sixties.

Sadly, so much of the show doesn't update - it's the sixties or nothing. :D

And, unfortunately, there are fewer of us (I speak only for myself) around now who remember what the sixties were like... Although, as they say, "If you remember the sixties..."

It's true. It was a time, that's for certain. I remember the protests and the war... I would like to think we aren't headed for that time again, but I am afraid...

No, politics is not looking good at the moment. I choose not to engage on line, but I have thoughts and fears.

I can certainly understand that. It's my wish as well, but somehow my friends can't seem to let it go at that.

I like the idea of this comm!

I don't think I could survive without coffee. No, let me restate that: I don't think my husband would survive me with no coffee :D

It's been too long since I had a gin and tonic. Maybe I'll remedy that this weekend.

Yes, it does seem like fun.

*laughs* Yep, I suspect I'd be unbearable, which is why I have never experimented.

Look forward to chatting in the morning. And I'll look forward to future posts from you on this comm.

LOL @ "I still do a double take when presented with the word 'beverage'" Me too! It's an odd word isn't it - so formal.

I really do like coffee, but some days I completely forget and don't drink any. I don't drink much during the summer either. When Mr Cee is home I drink a lot more because he drinks far more than I do and he makes it ;)

That's the word I was looking for - formal. Thank you; it was eluding me.

*g* I make my first coffee of the day while still mostly asleep.
