And again, lots going on in this chapter. Maybe the spell tying Xan to Spike had something to do with the stone not working? And Spike killing Roger is just a reminder that he's no 'big fluffy puppy with bad teeth', he's a Master vampire who does as he pleases. (And kinda glad on Wes's part, even though he's upset about his father, it's obvious his father wasn't that fond of him.)

Hope Spike doesn't kill Wes, or vamp him. (Somehow I think the idea of a vamped Watcher will tickle Spike's funny bone :D )
