I agree with texasfan too, I just hadn't seen it in those terms. But then, I already knew what Spike felt, long before he did. His attitude has been changing over time, but he admitted a while ago that he felt something. I saw this as a demon offering clumsy comfort, because with his own concerns appeased, he could spare the energy to consider Xander's.
