I think this may be one of the first times I've seen the take that not all was well between Xander and Jesse before the end, that they were, in fact, growing apart I figure this is a good six months before Buffy arrives, since season one only had 12 episodes. So, I'm not sure they were really so much growing apart, as growing at different rates, at a crucial and accelerated time for change in themselves. But thinking about the first episode, how Jesse had obviously been trying to chat Cordelia up for a while, but Xander was still at the inarticulate longing phase, while Willow had already moved into full recognition of her crush on Xander... I figured that a few months earlier, this could be where they each would be. *g* I will continue it, prompts willing.
