Although it is true that the powers and weaknesses of the vampires in the show were totally variable, depending on the 'artistic needs' of the moment. I mean, why the hell would The First try and torture Spike by holding his head under water, for goodness sake? *g* And sometimes it took all Buffy's or Angel's strength to defeat a newly risen fledge, while at other times Willow could beat them into the ground. *shakes head* Still we overlook these things (or find ingenuous ways to explain them) because we love the world he created and the wonderful language it spawned.
