I love how the 19th Century is just an inch below the surface

That snow we had has played havoc with the roads around where I live. The picture under the cut was taken just around the corner from our house, and honestly? I could have taken twenty like it... Except that would have been boring. One, though, is kind of fun.

I love that the Victorian cobbles still provide the strength and structure that we walk on.

I love that the tarmac crumbled in the cold, but they survive in almost pristine condition.

*thinks* I know that if they weren't there, there wouldn't be such handy channels for the water to seep through and the tarmac would survive better. But hey, logic? Why should I care about that? This is poetry manifest through urban infrastructure.

Tarmac has no soul. I love the cobbles.

They are nice, aren't they? Maybe because we see them so rarely now.
