Oh good. Thank you. That is exactly what I was hoping for. Because it was something he ought to do is a perfect way to describe it. Part of his conflict is between what he feels he 'ought' to feel and what he actually does feel (and I'm not sure either of us (he or I) know exactly what that is at the moment).
