Some very kind person has nominated Exodus, my Spike story from last year, at the Sunnydale Memorial Awards under the category of Best Angst.

Thank you very much.

thismaz: (Bewitched)
Bewitched won the award for best series at the No Rest for the Wicked Awards. The judges' statement was: Oh my... let's get a thing straight! Everyone needs to read this story! Everyone needs to discover this author! To say that I am chuffed to bits, would be a vast understatement.

Thank you, again, to the kind person who nominated it.

And I got this -

I mentioned last week that Ice-cream had won at The Running with scissors awards.

Well, now they have posted the winners banners, so I had to share the one they gave me. Isn't it pretty?

Thank you to the mods for all their work and especially to [livejournal.com profile] obsessionbased for making the banner.

I guess I'd better go and write chapter 9 of Bewitched now, though. It's early. I need more coffee. *goes to remind herself where the kettle lives, instead*

UFO Awards

ice-cream has been nominated at the UFO Awards - The Universal Fanfic Open Awards, for stories completed in 2008.

Thank you to whoever did the nominating and to the person who seconded it.

There is just one category per fandom - 'Best of' and it is nice to see that, while not the biggest selection, BtVS is nowhere near the smallest. Someone has been busy, because there were no nominations from BtVS in 2007 and only one in 2006. This year there are 15.

So go look. Click on the banner, to see who else has been nominated. And thank you again to my nominator.

*g* I am so chuffed, it's not true, especially because it is an award that's voted for.

And congratulations too, to all the other winners. There are some brilliant stories there. I am thrilled to be ranked among them. If you haven't done so already, go take a look.

Particular congratulations to those I know - [livejournal.com profile] kitty_poker1, [livejournal.com profile] litgal, [livejournal.com profile] orchidluv and [livejournal.com profile] sevendeadlyfun

I just got an email saying that Blood on a Sundial got nominated at The White Knight Awards, in the Academically Dangerous category and Ice-cream got nominated in the World Without Shrimp AU category.

Which is a lovely surprise and has made my morning. Thank you the the kind person, or persons, who did that.

Voting starts on Monday (hint, hint *g*). Actually, there are some great stories there. So go, read, and vote for whoever. I guarantee you'll have fun, if you haven't read them already.

It also gives me a chance to try out this clever thingy, where an image is also a link. *g* Never tried that before.

Let's see if it worked. *presses the Post button*

I discovered something today - apparently my friends page stops at skip=900. I didn't know that. It's only two and a half weeks, for goodness sakes. I don't know how much I've missed as a result. Hopefully any ongoing series will post another chapter soon and then I'll just be confused at the apparent lack of continuity. *Growls*

But this morning I heard some really nice news. BoaS won a runners up award at the [livejournal.com profile] forbiddenawards. And a Judges Choice. I got pretties to prove it if you look under the cut )

A short one this week. I wrote the first draft of this last night, which made for a pleasant and relaxed day today. *g* So I went back and did some tidying up of earlier chapters. Nothing huge, mostly small corrections of things that got missed in the beta'ing process. Please do let me know if you see any more. A quote from Shakespeare as a title seemed appropriate.

I think I said this before, but I've got an official email and a button now. BoaS has been nominated at the Forbidden Awards. Thank you to whoever did that.

I am way behind on reading my flist. I think I was at skip=320 this morning, which is sometime last Sunday, I think. *g* Well, that's what Sundays are for, isn't it? - Catching up.

Meanwhile here's chapter 30.

[livejournal.com profile] swweeks made me a banner. Which was lovely and unexpected and the first time I've received a graphic for no other reason than, just because.

So I had to show it off, didn't I?

And the reason? Well, that was lovely too. She said -
For me, one of the challenges of writing is the description of movement, showing what the character is doing so that the visual image the reader has is as clear as if he were standing there watching. thismaz has no such difficulty. Yesterday, I remarked to her that someone should dub her the master of movement. Well, rather than waiting for "Someone" to do so, I am investing myself with the authority and do so now.

So thank you [livejournal.com profile] swweeks, as I said before, I am chuffed to bits.

ETA: I asked if anyone knew who the original artist was, so I could credit, so thank you to Annon and to [livejournal.com profile] tabaqui for identifying the original work as by Michael Parkes.

I went and had a look on his web site and it says: All Images © 1975-2004 Michael Parkes®. World Rights Reserved.
No images may be downloaded or reproduced, and trademarks may not be used without permission.

So I have taken it down. It was a lovely thought though, and I am grateful.

It was called Puppetmaster and you can see it here: Puppetmaster

Thank you

Observations has been nominated again, at the 6th round of the Fang Fetish Awards. So I wanted to say thank you to you - you know who you are (although I don't *g*)

It's in 3 times - 'Best Spander', 'Best Sex' and 'Twisted Mind - Best Angst or Dark fiction' (I have to admit, that last one has me puzzelled).

So I posted my TtM story, went to the shops, came back to catch up on my flist and saw this http://community.livejournal.com/darker_spike/1962824.html

Not really thinking much about it, I followed the link and Observations won at the Forbidden Awards! Twice!!!

Best Spander (wow again, like what????) and Best New Writer ('cause it was my first spander story and my first adult story, and my second story, like ever).

Hey Maggie, Maggie - wake up [livejournal.com profile] maggie77, we won!!! *Hugs Maggie, because she is such a brilliant beta, she deserves to be here too*

And to be sharing the stage with some of the best stories around, is just neat! - as Spike might say.

Thank you so much to the nominator and the judges.

I just have to quote the comments:

Sometimes you come across a story that hits every button you have in the most perfect way possible. Observations may be a D/s story by genre about a vamp and his boy, but at its heart it’s a story about a relationship that’s tender and loving and satisfying and based on complete trust. Maz paints a picture of two people who have finally found what they need in life and this gives them the strength to face the future on their own terms. This is Spander at its very best; beautifully set up, elegantly written and wonderfully realized; what more could you possibly ask for.

and:

Deftly encompassing Xander's journey as the willing sub of a confident, cocky and still caring Spike. Rarely does D/s have such a rich exploration of the journey as well as such tenderness! Bravo!

*Pets awards* *hugs [livejournal.com profile] vamptastica for making the awards*

Pleased? Did you pick up that I was happy? Guess I'm not being subtle, huh?

Observations got nominated for the [livejournal.com profile] forbiddenawards. Isn't that nice of someone? I've got a big smile.....

And I am happy with that, because I don't expect more. I mean, check out the competition. There is a wonderful collection of stories there and it's great just to be listed among them.

*whispers* Yes, I know you told me last week [livejournal.com profile] sexymermaid but it didn't feel real until I saw it in writing.

...at the 4th round of the Fang Fetish Awards. Observations has. Big, big thank you to whoever did that, because I've never been nominated before and it was a lovely surprise this morning to find the email telling me about it. It's in 3 times - Best Spander, Most Sensual and Best Sleeper.

Now I have to work out how to put up a button. *goes off to thoroughly read the help page, and the faq page and [livejournal.com profile] sparrow2000's original tutorial, which has become a bit of a bible*

Did it work?

*grin* yes, it did. What fun!
