This is lovely. Xander was just ripe for Spike's meddling, and for once, Spike wasn't heavy handed with it. Played beautifully.
Again, I have to comment of the (not distracting) greater powers you accord the vamps than Whedon did. It's a nice touch when that comes into play in your stories. Here, particularly, where Spike senses Angel just on the edge of conscious awareness... very nice.
Now, it seems, you have a plot. Can't wait to see where it leads!
