What a lovely compliment - thank you so much. This picture comes from family stories, from Vera Brittain's diary and from various novels and movies I have seen. My Great Uncle didn't want to go to prison as a conscientious objector, so he spent 5 years as a stretcher bearer, instead - and still reacted badly to sudden loud noises 50 years later.
