The Friday Five was posted today, and early.
1) What family traditions did your family have, while you were growing up?
Family traditions that were unique to us? I'm not sure we had any. There was Church on Sunday, family meals at the table, Christmas presents from everybody to everybody, Easter eggs ditto, etc. But I can't think of any traditions that were specific to us. Ah, except maybe a negative one - We never did Father Christmas, the Tooth Fairy or the Easter Bunny. I always knew those were my parents, even if the stocking, sixpence or eggs appeared while I was asleep. I am grateful for that, since it meant I never suffered the sense of betrayal that some of my childhood friends suffered when they realised those things were not real.
2) What new traditions have you established since becoming an adult?
Again, I can't think of any. What is the difference between a tradition and a habit? There are many things I do through habit - spend the start of the day on line, as I wake up, spend the evening with DJ, reading or watching TV, going to work *g* But traditions? Umm... No, drawing a blank.
3) What tradition is most important to you in your current life?
See above *g*
4) What traditions do you have for the current season (spring or fall, depending on where you live)?
And again, see above.
5) What traditions would you like to establish in the future?
Retirement would be a good one *g*
What interesting questions. Those made me think about my life in a new way, as well as leaving me interested in how others will reply to them.
Happy long weekend, to those who get a 4 day weekend this week.
