Trouble with LJ

Hi *waves*

I am so glad to be connected again. I heard about the trouble with LJ, but it seemed to hit me 24 hours later than everybody else. I am usually only on line from 5.30 to 6.00am on week days and yesterday it was fine, but today... I haven't been able to get onto LJ at all, until just now.

Having taken a quick look at my flist, I don't see anybody complaining, so was this just me?

There was something about a go-slow for British users, earlier in the week. Was that the problem?

Anyone got any ideas?

Also, those who read my stories might have noticed that I use http://www.twiztv.com/scripts/ to check on canon dialogue. Today I went there and got a pop-up message that my computer was infected. The site opened up an application that started scanning my hard drive. I closed everything down and disconnected from the internet. Then I ran a thorough virus and adware check (my anti-virus software is up-to-date) and it all came up clean. So I am left thinking that the twiztv site has been corrupted.

Unless anyone knows different?

Anyway, as a result, chapter 19 of Bewitched will be a bit late. I do still aim to post today, though - I just have a lot of typing to do. Sorry for the delay.

There are a couple of sites with Buffy transcripts: Buffyworld.com and BuffyGuide.com. (Personally, I saved all Angel and Buffy transcripts to txt files years ago, for ease of searching.)

Not a one. Thursday was annoying, when LJ, Facebook and Twitter were all DDoSed, apparently to stop one specific blogger from having a voice, but apart from that, I seem to have been spared the horrors of no lj access. So far. But of course, now I've said that... *g*

If I come back from work and I can't get on, you'll hear the shrieks of anguish from there. :D

*g* I have never been unable to connect for so long. It was awful *g* I'll keep an ear cocked for long-distance shrieks, but hope not to hear them.

I was affected by the UK-wide problem on Tuesday which was due to a broken connection (http://community.livejournal.com/lj_uk/) and yesterday a couple of my American friends told me LJ was down for them for quite a while. One said there's a worldwide problem with hackers attacking social networking sites in general though I haven't seen any confirmation of that.

There's a note on the LJ status site that connection may be slow due to heavy usage, which seems rather lame.

Edit: I see darkhavens has more info about the hacking! She knows everything. *g*

Yes, I heard about that. It was on the radio - twitter, facebook and LJ, but it was supposed to be over by now. The LJ Status report is from yesterday (and presumably that is the US version of yesterday, too).
I don't know. It might have been that, but I was trying constantly from 6am and nothing. *shrugs* I guess I'm just glad to be back, but I was curious.

It's awful, isn't it? *pets you* It was amazing how cut-off I felt. I guess I was suffering from the DDoS, too, if it's still on-going.

Oh dear. I feel for her. It is somewhat sobering to realise how dependent I am on LJ to make my weekends work as they should.
